Kindergarten Happenings for December

Integrated Studies
In December, we are concluding the IB unit “Who We Are”
·         We will inquire into how our choices affect our well-being
·         Our Bodies and how they work          
·         Healthy Choices
·         Safety
Math
These are ongoing concepts being taught through December:
·         Number concepts can be used every day
·         Counting is a way to find a number of objects
·         A calendar measures time in years, months, and days
·         Math ideas can be expressed in words
·         Geometric Shapes
·         Patterns ( this will be our emphasis the next two weeks)
New concepts taught this nine weeks:
·         Developing number sense
·         Student uses numbers to name quantities
·         One- to –One correspondence
·         Ordering events
·         More/less/same
·         Ordinal positions
·         Addition and subtraction
Language Arts on going in December:
These are ongoing concepts:
·         Concepts of print

·         Sound to letter correspondence/ Capital and lowercase letters
·         Purpose for listening

New for the nine weeks:
·         Theme and Genre: analyze, make inferences, and draw conclusions
·         Expository and procedural writings

Thursday, December 16- AME Family Literacy Night 6-7:30 (Sign in for Door Prizes between 5:45-6:00pm)
Friday, December 17-Winter Party 2 PM
December 17- January 4- Winter Holiday
