IB News!!!

To start off the year kindergarten is learning about jobs and responsibilities.  Our unit of study focuses on how we organize ourselves and the interconnectedness of human-made systems and communities.  The following newsletter gives you an inside look at what we will be studying and activities that will take place in the classroom.  Please post a comment if you have any questions.

Important Volunteer Information

If you would like to volunteer in our classrooms, on fieldtrips, or any other activitites at school involving our students you must complete a background check.  The following link will take you to the RRISD website that gives you information on how to complete this form.

Welcome to Kindergarten

Kindergarten Classroom Basics


  • Arrival 7:30 am
  • Tardy 7:45 am
  • Dismissal 2:45 pm
  • Lunch 11:24 am Student $2.05 Reduced $.40


  • Daily Folders
Your student will bring home a “Daily Folder” each day. Please return the folder to school every  morning. All paperwork and school work, as well as notes from me, will come home to you in this folder. If you are sending back paperwork or writing me a note, please place it in this folder as well. A calendar inside the folder will provide daily information about your child’s classroom behavior. This folder is the main tool for communication between homes and school-please check every night.


  • Homework
Kindergarten has a homework reading requirement of 60 minutes per week. This includes reading to your child, and/or your child reading to you. Occasional IB projects will come home.

  • Breakfast
Breakfast in the classroom: Your child is welcome to participate in having a nutritious breakfast in class every morning, free of charge. The breakfast will start at 7:30 and ends at 7:50.
